Second, I want to commend you on taking action and choosing to get help with your career. Most people are afraid to ask for help which is why they never get the results they want from their life.
In fact, I was one of those people…
When I first started my career in sales I was awful. I used to come into my office every day and would spin my wheels using random tactics and got nowhere fast.
Every day would feel worse then the day before because I didn’t understand how to go about things the right way. I felt scattered, overwhelmed, and frustrated.
After two years of utter turmoil, I swallowed my pride and started seeking help.
First I read some books which was okay. Then I watched some seminar videos which did help.
Finally, I met my mentor who was really successful in sales and he taught me some core principles that changed my life.
Most importantly, he let me “lean on him” for support and strength during my “transformation process”. You see, a good mentor is someone that gives you the strength and courage to step up into your bigger self until you are ready to do it on your own.
This is what blog posts and videos on YouTube won’t give you. A mentor acts like a “tuning fork” where you can lean on them to develop your strength until you can do it by yourself.
This is why having a mentor is so powerful.
When I hired my mentor in sales I was making $36K a year. Within 18 months I was making over $200K a year.
Not bad right?
This is what I mean by speeding up the process. When you have someone you can work with on a weekly basis, they can help you move forward by leaps and bounds because they know the ins and outs of the path you are on.
Picture this…You need to cross a valley
You could either…
A. Go it alone
B. Hire a guide
Sure, you could guess your way to your destination and get there in a few months.
You can hire a guide to help you get to your destination in a few days who will tell you, “Go this way”.
If you were going to cross a valley, doesn’t it make sense to hire a guide who can make sure you are on the right path?
Having a good mentor does these three things:
Step 1. Clarity
The first thing you need to do is figure out who you are and what you want. Then you need to figure out the actions you must take to get what you want.
Step 2 – Focus
Because there is so much noise and distractions in our lives, a good mentor will help keep you focused so you don’t become scattered and overwhelmed with all of the things you need to do.
Step 3 – Strength
Because it won’t be easy, you are going to need your mentors strength to give you strength when times get tough.
Are you starting to see the power of how having a good mentor could change your life and career?
I truly look forward to helping you get what you want from your life and career. Please look out for my email.
In the meantime, ff you have not already done so, take the time to read my About Page and learn more about who I am and why I do this.
