In this lesson, you are going to discover:
1. Why so many people end up at dead end jobs.
2. 12 questions you should ask yourself.
3. A 6-step process to getting a job you love.
Finding work these days can be very challenging especially when it comes to doing something that you truly enjoy. All too often people spend countless hours working jobs they absolutely hate. If you are reading this right now, chances are you are one of those people who wake up every day dreading to get out of bed because you loathe and despise where you will go to work.
Why Do So Many People Suffer?
Many people wonder why it is that they have a hard time finding their dream job and it is do to the fact that they are not in touch with their authentic self. As people are raised as children, they are told what to think instead of being taught how to think for themselves.
This is why so many people wake up one day and have a mid-life crisis, because they now realize they have been living a life based upon what other people told them to do rather than knowing who they truly are and doing what makes them happy.
The truth is that you probably lack clarity in who you are and what you want from life because no one taught you how to come up with your own answers. Without a specific direction and objective, you will just wander through life without attaining any of your goals.
Life either happens to you, or through you.
14 Signs To Look For In Your Dream Job
I have come up with 14 questions you can ask yourself that will clearly tell you whether or not you found your dream job:
1. Lifestyle – Does it support a lifestyle you enjoy?
Make sure you live life at your pace doing the things you want to do.
2. Industry – Are you part of a community you care about?
The industry you are a part of will become your tribe and second family. Make sure you care about what it stands for.
3. Passion – Are you excited to wake up every day?
If you are having a hard time getting out of bed in the morning, that is not a good sign.
4. Expert – Do you love learning everything about it?
The only way to excel at what you do is by becoming an expert at your craft and in your field. If you are not seeing your career evolve and grow, it’s because you are not committed to being the best at it.
5. Talent – Does it accentuate your natural gift?
You have a natural talent and your life will feel so much better if your job tapped into those gifts.
6. Social – Do you love telling people what you do?
If you go out into social environments and have a hard time telling people what you do, then find something until you do like telling people.

7. Payment – Does it feel strange being paid for it?
You deserve to be paid for what you do. But when you love what you do, that is a reward unto itself and therefore might feel strange when you are also given a check for it.

When you are passionate about what you do, you can talk endlessly about it.
9. Challenge – Does it challenge you enough so that you grow as a person?
You need challenge in your life and your job needs to push you out of your comfort zone. But remember, there is a difference between challenge and struggle.
10. Fear – Are you afraid to fail?
When you really care about what you are doing, you will be afraid to fail. When you don’t care you become complacent.
11. Appreciated – Are you acknowledged for the work you do?
We all need to feel appreciated and acknowledged for what we do. Its a form of sustenance that our psyche needs to survive. Without it, you will become miserable.
[bctt tweet=”If you don’t feel appreciated for the work you do, you have not found your dream job” via=”no”]
12. Fulfilled – Do you go to sleep at night feeling good about your day?
Most people need to eat sweets at night to feel good about their day. But when you love what you do, you’ll feel Full-filled.

14. Positive Difference – Are you making a positive difference in the world?
We all need to feel good about what we are doing. Knowing that what we do makes a difference in some way will play a big part in not living life with regrets.
If you can answer yes to these fourteen questions, then you found your dream job.
Now I am going to teach you the 6-step process you will need to take to create a life and career you love.
Step 1 – Clarity
What Do You Want From Life?
The first step in the process of finding your dream job is to gain clarity on what you want from life. These are the three things you must be clear on before you decide to go out and introduce yourself to companies:
A. What is your life purpose?
Having a passion and purpose gives our lives meaning. If you don’t know what this is then one day you will wake up unsatisfied and discontent. You could have a great job, a lot of money, a nice car, and good friends, but if your life has no meaning or purpose, you will feel empty inside and not know why because the outer world (your stuff) looks great.
B. What do you want your lifestyle to look like?
Most people assume the answer to this question has to do with money. And while that is a part of it, you also need to consider what your daily routine is because you are going to spend half of your waking life with the company you work with. Once again, you could have all the money in the world but if you are slaving away or working with people you hate, you will become miserable.
C. How do you define success?
To truly feel fulfilled in life, you need to know what success means to you. You have to create your own definition of what that looks and feels like. As children we are bombarded with beliefs and definitions from our parents, family, friends, peers, and society about what success means. While those beliefs may work for some people, you need to make sure you have your own definition.
So take the time to gain clarity about who you are and what you want from life before you build your career. Even if that means taking some time off to “discover who you are.” Wouldn’t you prefer to know you are investing your time in something that aligned with your authentic self versus just doing something for the sake of making money?

Step 2 – Mindset
If you want to find and get your dream job, you better have the right mindset in place. This means you need to remove all limiting and negative beliefs, fears, insecurities, and doubts about yourself. If you are going to put yourself out there, you need to make sure that what you are putting out there is confidence and positive beliefs about yourself and the ability to get the kind of job you want.
Most people do not realize that they have subconscious negative beliefs running on autopilot that attract circumstances in their life they say they do not want. Unfortunately, you will continue to get them until you dig deep and root out those negative subconscious beliefs that say:
“I’m not good enough.”
“There are no good jobs out there.”
And so on.
Step 3 – Targeting
Knowing how to search for the right company to go after is going to be crucial to you getting your dream job. Don’t just rely on sites like Monster or Craigslist. In fact, that can be the worst way to try and get a job because you are now one of a thousand people responding to their ad which will devalue your services.
Rather than contact companies who have placed job ads, its much better to know what companies you feel would be a good fit. Don’t just settle for what is available. Go after the companies you want to work with.
Step 4 – Needs
Having a clear understanding of what hiring managers are looking for is crucial to landing your dream job. All too often candidates take the wrong approach to pitching themselves to the companies they are applying with. You have to see yourself as a product or service and position yourself as the best solution to the companies problem. Take the time to learn what they need and then position yourself based upon that so you will immediately look like the perfect fit.
[bctt tweet=”Knowing what hiring managers are looking for is crucial to landing your dream job” via=”no”]
Step 5 – Strategy
Once you understand the hiring companies needs, you are going to need to put together a strategy of how to approach them. You don’t want to just shoot off some random resume as this will devalue your services. You need to spend some time to figure out the best way to approach this company so that you will have some leverage.
Step 6 – Execution
Once you understand their needs and have a strategy, now its time to execute your plan. During this process you need to see yourself as a sales and marketing person as you launch a campaign to position yourself as a highly qualified candidate for this company.
Step 1 – Make sure you know what you want from life and you have a clear understanding of what success means to you.
Step 2 – Pick an industry you are passionate about and want to invest in.
Step 3 – Figure out how you can add value to that industry. Be specific. What role can you play at the companies in that industry.
